2008 BRQHA Queen

Each year the BRQHA sends an ambassador from the Blue Ridge region to represent our association at the All American Quarter Horse Congress.  The BRQHA Queen will spend a week at the Congress representing our association at many activities and events.  Throughout the week the queen is judged on poise, appearance, personality, conduct and cooperation.  She is given a written test of breed knowledge and horses as well as an oral interview to test competency of public speaking.  The week will end with the Queen's Horsemanship Contest where the ladies are judged on performing a pattern at a walk, jog and lope to prove superior western horsemanship skills.  The Congress Queen will be crowned during the opening ceremonies of the 2008 AQHA Congress.

The 2008 BRQHA Queen is Ashley Owens from Lebanon, VA.  Photos coming soon.

2007 BRQHA Queen

Sierra Leeann Kuzminski

I would like to introduce myself and thank BRQHA for the opportunity to represent the organization as their ambassador for the 2007 Quarter Horse Congress!

I am currently an Elementary Education major at Edinboro University in my Sr. year, achieving honors status and participating in several activities. I am a member of the Blue Ridge Quarter Horse Assoc, PQHA, PQAHA, WPQHA and several local equine organizations.

Along with my family I have competed in speed events, horsemanship, HUS, and showmanship classes successfully with our Quarter Horses for several years all in which I achieved two Open World qualifications, competing on the PQHA Youth World team and the WPQHA NYATT team for three years. I earned my ROM and Superior in youth and open Barrels.

I was a finalist at the Congress for three years, and was also Top Ten in Nation in Open Barrels for 2005 and 5th place Limited Rider Skill Set E in 2006. I was also featured in The Quarter Horse Journal; March ‘07 Skyliners article with my horse, Sum Boone.

My most memorable accomplishment so far has been participating in the All American Quarter Horse Congress Queens Contest in 2006 as the PQHA Queen and placing 14th overall and 5th in the interview. I am so very honored to represent Blue Ridge this year and with the help of family, friends, Jen Sturgill, Blue Ridge QHA, and sponsors I hope to bring home the title of Congress Queen to the Blue Ridge Quarter Horse Association. Thank you so much for this opportunity.

Sincerely,

Sierra Leeann Kuzminski
